Widely known as cantonment, Kasauli is a beautiful town, located in Solan district in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Popular for its beautiful sceneries and rich past, this cantonment was established by the British Raj in 1842 as a colonial hill station. Its colonial ambiance is reinforced by cobbled paths, quaint shops, gabled houses with charming facades and scores of neat little gardens and orchards. This place is encircled by a mixed forest of chir-pine, Himalayan oak and huge horse-chestnuts. Its narrow road slithers up and down the hillsides and offer some splendid views. Tourist can get vantage views from monkey point, 4 km from the bus stand. The town takes its name from the village of Kasul that has since merged with the fringes of the town. St. Patrick’s R Catholic Church
The church was built in 1847 and erected by contributions from the East India Company, Father Candidus the 32nd (Cornwall) Regiment and her Majesty’s regiment, at total cost of rs 4500. It was maintained by the Kasauli garrison and was run by the Franciscan missionaries of the English province who were mainly serving the Irish soldiers posted at Kasauli.
 
Monkey Point
One of the highest point in Kasauli is called Monkey Point offers an excellent view of the distant plains of Chandigarh region and the river Satluj, tracing a silvery trail through the scene. A small temple is also located on the top of the hill, which is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. According to a legend, at the end of Ramayana when Lord Hanuman was returning from the Himalayas after obtaining Sanjivani Booty, his foot touched the hill and therefore this place is considered very auspicious.
 
Sabathu
Located at an altitude of 1,437m, it is a little cantonment town is home to popular Gurkha fort built in early years of the 19th century. This cantonment town quartered the British soldiers at the time of British Empire.
 
Dagshai
Generally known for several good military schools, Dagshai is also a little cantonment at an altitude of 1,925 m just 19 km from Kasauli and is well connected by link road, which diverts from Dharampur.
