Dubai Historical District is a developing project that will renovate the area that currently encompasses Saruq Al-Hadid Museum and Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. The development will feature floating exhibits on historical trading boats, restored trade stores, exhibitions of local artistry and a performance centre showcasing traditional Emirati culture.
 
The rejuvenation and expansion project will cover 1.5 square kilometres and will include 60 separate projects, including new museums, forts, restaurants and open-air spaces set against Dubai Creek.
 
Tours by local Emirati guides will be offered to shed light on the district’s five main pillars: tradition, heritage, trade, community and place making. Aimed at highlighting Dubai’s rich history and culture to visitors—including a particular emphasis on art—Dubai Historical District will be an ongoing project with expected completion in 2018.
